Setting the Scene in Dullsville Mother is watching Stephen Colbert, although she'd rather be watching the Atlanta Braves. (it's an off night for Braves) A light bulb goes off as my husband tells me how he's going to fix something on my car if I'll just bring it by and I remind him that he's looked at it twice already. I'm listening to a Bardo Pond tune while on my 2nd cup of EVENING coffee because it's too damn early to go to bed at 9pm since I'd probably only sleep til 3am or 4am. Texting my daughter who's on a dinner date at Asiana with her boyfriend and the baby who is lovingly sucking the romance out of the event. My son just told me about an idea he has involving grasshoppers and weed. L'sigh... It's been a large day. Labels: Stephen-Colbert ![]() |

Strangers With Candy stars Amy Sedaris as Jerri Blank, a 47-year-old loser junky whore high school freshman with lesbian tendencies. Got that? As one might guess, the movie plays off the temptation, as well as the prohibition, implied in its name. It is a brand of comedy that invites one's sense of humor to venture where it has not dared go before. Strangers with Candy shows the onscreen relationship between co-screenwriters/co-stars Paul Dinello (The Colbert Report, and the SWC TV series) and Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report, The Daily Show). The two play schoolteachers Geoff and Chuck, who are also squabbling gay lovers who offer a cynically comic spoof of gay relationships. [Read More...]ThinkFilm presents an Exclusive first look at the Strangers With Candy movie trailer. It opens nationwide in July. Watch trailer I've followed SWC since Comedy Central days and look forward to the movie. It was extremely raw for television and the writing is the best I've seen. The New Yorker interviewed Stephen Colbert of The Daily Show recently, which is good since I don't see much information about him. I have watched him since the wild and weird Strangers With Candy on Comedy Central. I just read that he's the voice of Ace of the Ambiguously Gay Duo on SNL. He also talks about studying improv with Del Close in Chicago, who was also a noted pagan. Colbert will star in “The Colbert Report,” in October, which will air just after the “The Daily Show.” Labels: LGBTQ, pagan, Stephen-Colbert ![]() |

Sundance Film Festival - January 20 - 30, 2005
Just a few of the films I'd like to see next year. Strangers With Candy / Director: Paul Dinello; Screenwriters: Stephen Colbert (From The Daily Show), Paul Dinello, and Amy Sedaris. Absolultely LOVED the television series which was cancelled after three years, and can't wait for the movie. more » This Revolution - Director: Stephen Marshall is a topical story about Iraq and the relationships involving protesters, soldiers, photogs, and more. Synopsis and video can be found on GNN. What Is It? / Director & Writer: Crispin Hellion Glover. What Is It? is a bewildering, unnerving, surreal, blackly comic film from the visionary mind of Crispin Glover that tells the inner and outer struggles of a young man facing villains and demons on multiple planes. Fairuza Balk does a voice in the film. Reefer Madness (The Musical) / Director: Andy Fickman; Screenwriter: Dan Studney and Kevin Murphy. (A remake of the classic which has been a recent play and was released on DVD this year). We all know the story by now of how someone ends up at the house of evil, takes a hit from a funny cigarette and freaks out. more » America's Biggest Dick - Dramatic Shorts Category, Director: Bryan Boyce. Unable to find any info on this one, but if it's about somebody named Richard, I'm going to be ill. Act For Love
Because activists need love, too. Which reminds me....several months ago I posted something about meeting your spouse, partner, etc, online and had a few responses of people who'd had success online meeting a mate. I forgot who responded to that post. Have you ever met someone wonderful online? Rue's baby was born yesterday morning at 6:30 am. Welcome to the world, Brenna Jennifer, 8lbs 15oz 23+ inches long. The Webby Awards were announced last night. You can see the list of winners here. For anyone who likes to solve riddles, try this one. Einstein wrote this riddle this century. He said 98% of the world could not solve it. It's not hard, you just need to pay attention and be patient. Bloggers Report Alt News From G8. At protests accompanying the Group of Eight summit in France, protesters posted their own commentary on weblogs. Can you spot a fake smile? Lots-O-Links. Amy Sedaris has a new book she collaborated on with Paul Dinello, and Stephen Colbert, called, "Wigfield: The Can-Do Town That Just May Not." Amy is David Sedaris' sister and was the creator and star of the Strangers With Candy Show on Comedy Central along with Colbert and Dinello. One of my all-time favorite television shows. Pure comedy gold. Quote For Today so shut up, live, be, adventure, bless and dont be sorry-- (jack kerouac) What the hell; go ahead and put all your eggs in one basket.
